How to train your mindset

Writer's picture: Steve BarkerSteve Barker

Happy Monday to you.

Would you like to chat about mindset, help set you up for the week ahead?

Cool, so you can have 2 mindsets, first is having a growth mindset and the second is a fixed mindset.

Looking at the picture below, I would like you to really read the words and see which relates strongest to you. I want you to be completely honest. Because when I have done this with clients they bullshit themselves, saying... "ah yeah... I do that" or "I can remember a time when I thought that way". It was that bullshit that was their barrier.

If you are completely honest with yourself you can identify areas that you can work upon. There are still areas that I am working on and developing. How am I doing this?

I am looking at the particular area and breaking it down in to small relevant chunks. I am thinking of examples where I could have done better. I am analysing what I could have done better and how.

All the time I am doing this, I am physically writing it down with pen and paper. Why?... Because by doing this I am actually stimulating and firing up the whole thought process. Physically writing all of this down is the key to developing and improving.

The next step is how to implement that better way. Is there a belief, a value, a standard that I could or need to change or adjust? How can I improve my language around this area. Is there something I can do to improve my understanding and knowledge?

Finally - implementation.... How, when, where am I going to implement these changes.

This is what I do, this is what works, I have great success using this model... this is why I use this model over and over again.

Remember, the key to using this model successfully is............ Complete honesty in your personal assessment.

I would love to hear your thoughts, ideas and experiences of this model, please comment below.

If you need help with using this model, please let me know, I am more than happy to assist you.

Hav

e a great week.
