Perfect....does that even exist?

There was no way I was going to let that go....

Not as it was...

It wasn't up to standard

You see, I had this thing about how things should be...

Maybe your the same?

Some days it would drive me to distration

The amount of time I have wasted trying to get this bit right

and that bit perfect...

Perfect, I mean....does that even exist?

I know people who will not try anything until they think they have all the information or training.

They say "I just need to do this bit and then I will be good to go..."

It's like getting your ducks in a line...

What a load of rubbish that phrase is...

have you ever seen a mother duck lining up all her ducklings before she sets off?

No, she jumps in the water and swims off...

The ducklings then see mum is heading off and jump in after her...

Through taking action, all the ducks link up in a row.

This need for perfection was driving me mad...

Something had to change ....

It did when I read a book by one of my favourite Authors "Jim Rohn"

He explained how nothing in nature was perfect...(the duck analogy is one example)

not one thing...

and he issued a challenge through his book...

"Next time you feel the need to go back and correct something....walk away"

That was it...

Simple as that I thought....no way...

I tried it, and yes it was difficult at first....after all I had been a Drill Sergeant in the Royal Air Force...

Then I had the tussle in my mind...

Am I now a slacker who is taking the easy way out?

After some deliberation I realised that my need to be right was runing my life...

It had ruined my 2 marriages and other relationships...

Then I discovered more information.

This time ...about the Ego

and how the Ego is there to keep us safe.

So this need to be perfect was a fear based behaviour...

If I was nothing less than perfect then I can be judged...

If I'm judged....people will think badly of me...

That will lead to them not liking me and I will be...

"Billy no-mates"

So, now I had more understanding, and being able to give myself the permission to leave it as it was became easier.

As time progressed, my desire to be perfect, to be right all the time deminished.

Now I'm able to live my life in a much calmer way...

Less anxiety, worry and stress...

And all because...

I had learnt some new perspectives...

and implemented a new strategy.

Do you think you can try that?

Next time you are going to correct something....you let it go...

Or you want to do something new, but don't feel good enough...

You say I am mother duck, let's go...

Do you think you can do this?
